Hobart & Surrounds Information - The Rivers Run Touring Route
Touring Routes - The Rivers Run

The Rivers Run Touring Route is a region of diversity from the Derwent Valley to the Highlands Trail and the Central Plateau. Experience rural vistas, rugged mountain ranges, towering forests and highland lakes teeming with trout.

Visit Mt Field, Tasmania’s oldest National Park, cruise on Australia’s deepest natural freshwater lake, flyfish, mountain bike, or play around on Tasmania’s highest golf course at Tarraleah.

Distinctive architecture of oast houses, hop kilns and historic Georgian towns engage with the forests of the Styx Valley and the Tasmanian Wilderness World Heritage Area including the southern gateway to the Cradle Mountain-Lake St Clair National Park and the renowned Overland Track which attracts almost 10,000 walkers each year.

The Derwent River system is the lifeblood of the region, rising in Lake St Clair flowing through a network of streams and marshes, supporting hydro-electricity and irrigation to ultimately become a grand and glorious river at New Norfolk.
