Just twenty minutes from Hobart Tasmania’s convict past begins at historic Richmond – an original village of cobbles, handmade brick and mellow stone, nestled in the Coal River Valley – Tasmania’s fastest growing wine region.

Nearby is Sorell – look behind the busy modern thoroughfare and you’ll discover historic buildings with fascinating stories to tell.

Travel south, via Copping and Dunalley – to the spectacular Tasman Peninsula, where past and present mingle, in fact, many B&B’s are convict built allowing you to further immerse yourself in this dedicated historical experience.

Stopping at the infamous ‘dog line’ at Eaglehawk Neck travel onto today’s Port Arthur, a place of green lawns, preserved buildings, english gardens and quiet memories. Just 30 minutes from Port Arthur, is The Coal Mines Historic Site at Lime Bay, offering insight into Tasmania’s fi rst operational mine.

The Tasman National Park also offers spectacular coastal cliffs and geological features including Tessellated Pavement, Blowhole, Devils Kitchen, Tasman Arch and Remarkable Caves.
